Note that if you intend to link anything that is classified as an image or text file, then you will need to use the first technique, as Scapple will otherwise presume you mean to import the text or image rather than link to a file. If you simply want a note on the board to serve as a link, then you can simply drop the file right into the board, to have a link created to it automatically. I use it for everything, from corporate communication to personal projects. It doesnt lag, doesnt bug, and does exactly what you need it for: provide a space where everything is taken care of and you can just write.

The full path will be printed in as part of the URL. I live and die by Scrivener since I first started using it years ago.

Mac only: In the text field where the URL will be added, type in the file protocol: file:// with no spaces after it.( ⌘L Mac, Ctrl+Shift+L Windows) menu command. Select the text within a note that will be linked, and use the Edit ▸ Add Link.

To create a link to a file, follow either of these instructions: Linking from written text Links to the Web use the "http" protocol, and this is why they all start with the prefix Another protocol exists which lets you address files on your computer, using a full path to that file. Scapple can store hyperlinks in notes, and since links can point to files on your computer, they are as open to you as link targets as locations on the Web.
